NAZARETH, Pa. — An eastern Pennsylvania man who fired a shot during an argument over a pet hermit crab will spend six months to a year in the county jail.

Thirty-two-year-old Mario Maisonet, of Nazareth, was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The (Easton) Express-Times reports the shooting happened outside a home shared by Maisonet and his fiancée.

The woman’s ex-husband was dropping off their 10-year-old boy after a weekend visit in April. Maisonet and the boy’s father argued about whether the boy could bring the crab home in a fish tank.

Maisonet fired a shot into the front wheel of the father’s car.

Northampton County Judge F. P. Kimberly McFadden told Maisonet, “This is no way to behave in front of kids.”
