According to a news release, the single-vehicle wreck took place at 1:49 p.m. as Todd Knaub, 50, was traveling south on Furnace Road near East Posey Road in Lower Chanceford Township in York County.

Knaub failed to negotiate a right-hand curve and lost control of his motorcycle, the release said.

Trooper Rob Hicks said the wreck is being investigated to determine what, if any, contributing factors led to Knaub losing control of the motorcycle.

"What specifically led to the crash is currently unknown and is still being investigated," Hicks said via email. "(Knaub) failed to negotiate a curve and went over an embankment."

Knaub was not wearing a helmet, Hicks said.

Firefighters, police and EMS responded to the scene, and because of the severity of his injuries, Knaub was flown by helicopter to York Hospital, where he remained Monday afternoon.
