Hail, high winds possible with afternoon thunderstorms

  • High winds, hail and rain expected as afternoon thunderstorms track east across the state, forecasters said.

Severe thunderstorms are expected to impact much of the Northeast this afternoon and into the evening, the National Weather Service at State College said today.

York County remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Central Pennsylvania Monday.

Meteorologist Paul Head said a line of severe thunderstorms will move across the state's southern counties this afternoon after earlier storms to the north produced golfball-sized hail.

"The storms will move east/northeast over the next couple of hours," he said. "These storms have the potential to cause hail and can produce winds of up to 60 mph."
