The Morning Call
BANGOR, Pa. — Officials say a 20-year-old man has died at a popular and dangerous eastern Pennsylvania quarry.
Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek says the Howell, New Jersey, man was swimming at an abandoned quarry in Bangor with seven other young people Sunday when officials say he went underwater and didn’t resurface.

Officials aren’t immediately releasing the victim’s name.
The Morning Call reports the Seven Slopes of Slate quarry has long attracted visitors because of its translucent water and 100-foot-high cliffs. But discarded machinery underwater and shocking changes in temperature in the quarry can be dangerous to swimmers.
