Springettsbury Police: Lock your cars, people
If you don't want people to steal your wallets, electronics or guns from your car, lock it.
Springettsbury Township Police sent out a news release to that effect Monday evening, pointing to the fact that residents reported 11 thefts from vehicles this weekend.
Most of the cars the thief or thieves hit up were unlocked, according to police.
"Please remember to remove any valuables from your vehicles and lock the doors to prevent theft," the release says in bold letters.
Four of the thefts were on Raleigh Drive, according to the release; criminals took off with a Glock .380-caliber handgun, money and cigarettes, among other items, the release states. Someone left her car unlocked and keys in it, the release states, so thieves stole the car, which was found nearby.
Residents reported three more thefts on Eastwood Drive, two on Auburn Road and one each on Pleasant Valley and Hammond Roads, according to the release. Police say people stole items including money and sporting goods from those cars.
Police also suggest that if people do want to store valuables in their cars, they should try to keep them out of sight.
The department asks anyone who sees suspicious activity to call 911.
