A man was shot in the back of the head Wednesday night, but police say he looks like he will be OK.

The shooting, which happened in the 600 block of Front Street, occurred about 10 p.m., according to York City Police. The lieutenant on the scene said the victim, in his mid-40s, knew the shooter. According to York County 911 dispatches, the victim was the one who made the initial call.

Police said the victim was talking to EMTs and was able to walk himself into the ambulance. He was taken to York Hospital for treatment.

The suspect was not at the scene when police arrived, and as of 11 p.m. Wednesday, no arrests had been made.

About 10:30 p.m., officers were seen investigating outside a home in the 600 block of Front Street.

Police said it looks as though the victim was not from the area and just visiting. The lieutenant on scene did not know what the relationship between the victim and suspect was.

Police say they did not find a gun at the scene.
