79-year-old woman killed in Fairview Twp. crash

A 79-year-old woman died in a crash in Fairview Township Thursday, according to the Fairview Township Police.

Ellen Betcke, of Newberry Township, died when her vehicle hit a tree, according to police.

The crash was reported about 4 p.m. in the 300 block of Old York Road, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

Police found a Subaru Forester that was heading south on Old York Road when it went across the opposing lane of traffic and off the roadway, striking a large tree. Betcke was pronounced dead at the scene.
