Garage fire intentionally set, fire chief says

York City Fire Chief David Michaels said a fire that damaged seven garages Sunday morning is under investigation and was "intentionally set."

York City Fire and Police departments are investigating a fire that happened early Sunday morning, destroying seven garages, three cars and a motorcycle.

York City firefighters were dispatched around 5 a.m. to the 200 block of Rose Avenue for the fire that caused more than $60,000 in damage, Michaels said. The fire occurred near the corner of South Pershing Avenue and West Jackson Street.

Three of the bays had vehicles in them, he said.

No injuries were reported, Michaels said. The York City Fire Department is working with York City Police on an investigation to determine who set the fire.
