The National Weather Service at State College confirms a weather pattern producing heavy rain and pea-sized hail is currently moving across York County.

The system is expected to move from the northeastern part of the county to the southwestern part of the county over the next hour, meteorologist Aaron Tyburski said.

"It's moving from the northeast to the southwest, which is not typical for the area," Tyburski said.

The storm has already knocked down at least one tree in Windsor Township along Kendale Road, according to authorities. There were also reports of power lines down in Lower Windsor Township on Almoney Road and in Hellam Township on Cool Springs Road.

Tyburski said the storms might linger a bit, but are not expected to intensify.

"Not much worse than they are right now," he said.

A downed utility in Hellam Township has closed all lanes between Dark Hollow Road and Schimmel Lane, according to the state Department of Transportation.
