Police charge man they say ran naked across Route 30
Police have filed charges for a York City man they say jumped naked from the third floor of a Motel 6 and crossed Route 30 before causing "general mayhem" inside a Sheetz in early March.
Michael Gibson, 24, of 844 Tioga St., faces charges of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, open lewdness and simple trespass, according to charging documents.
The charges were filed on May 7, and Gibson has not been arraigned on them yet, according to online court records. He has been in York County Prison since March 21 for a parole violation.
Mayhem: Northern York County Regional Police say that about 6 p.m. March 11, they were sent to the Motel 6 at 323 Arsenal Road in Manchester Township for a report of a naked man running around the building.
Witnesses told police Gibson was acting differently than normal and got naked and ran around the top floor of the hotel. Police say Gibson jumped from the third floor of the Motel 6, landed on a windshield of a car and ran toward the nearby Starbucks.
Gibson then allegedly ran across Route 30 and into the Sheetz and knocked over racks in the store. Police say Gibson left the store and tried to open the door of a vehicle with someone inside. An off-duty officer saw what was going on and pulled a gun on Gibson and ordered him to the ground, documents state.
Gibson was not on the ground long before police say he hopped back up and tried to mount a customer's red motorcycle. Police say the officer and two civilians were able to hold Gibson in place until officers arrived on the scene.
According to police, Gibson suffered multiple broken bones in his feet from his fall. Police were not sure what drugs, if any, Gibson had in his system during the incident.
