A Lancaster County man reported missing earlier this week was found dead Wednesday morning in a York County cemetery, police said.

The man shot himself in the head, and his death has been ruled a suicide, Southwestern Regional Police Chief Greg Bean said.

He was reported missing on Monday, Bean said, and was found inside a vehicle he had parked in the cemetery, which is in the 4200 block of Zeiglers Church Road in North Codorus Township, near St. Paul (Zeigler’s) Lutheran Church of Seven Valleys.

The man was carrying no identification, but authorities determined he is a Mount Joy man who was reported missing on Monday, according to Bean.

A woman walking her dog through the cemetery found the body on Wednesday morning, the chief said.

Bean said police aren’t sure why the man chose the Seven Valleys area to commit suicide.

York County Coroner Pam Gay said no autopsy is planned for the 41-year-old man.
