York County United Way announces new campaign chair
Last year, Anne Druck was a member of the campaign cabinet for York County United Way's campaign.
This year she is the campaign chair, York County United Way announced Monday.
Druck, of the New Freedom area, is the president of the York County Convention and Visitors Bureau and has been donating to the campaign for more than 20 years now.
Last week she took on her new role as chair for the campaign, and she is already making progress.
Chair: In her first week, Druck has made some small changes.
“We’re going to increase our outreach, and we’ve done that by adding more volunteers to our cabinet," she said.
She asked volunteers to ask for donations from five CEOs, four who are involved with the campaign already and one who is not involved with the campaign, in an effort to increase donations. In the first week, they have gotten two new donors, according to Druck.
“Our plan is that that strategy is going to raise more money,” she said.
She said she hopes to exceed last year's donations of $6.5 million.
Druck said when she was initially approached to be campaign chair earlier this year, she had to think about it before she committed.
“I was honored and a little scared because it's a large campaign,” she said.
Despite that, she jumped on, even after only having one year of experience volunteering with the campaign.
“I’m finding there’s a much greater reward,” she said of volunteering for the first time.
In addition to Druck, Jim Singleton of Gladfelter Insurance has been selected as vice chair and will be taking over chair position for the 2017 campaign.
This year's campaign will kick off on Aug. 12 at PeoplesBank Park, and tickets are $4 for the event.
