A Newberry Township man is being held in York County Prison under a $50,000 secured bond on charges he attacked his stepfather with a stun gun and stabbed him in the back with a box cutter, according to charging documents.

The incident took place around 5:50 p.m. Saturday.

Dennis Brown, 20, 700 Cassel Road Lot 32, is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, possessing an instrument of crime and simple assault, as well as a single count each of using an incapacitation device, possession of a prohibited offensive weapon and harassment.

According to the charging documents, Newberry Township police officers were called to the scene of a domestic dispute between two family members. Once on scene, officers found the victim, Scott Barnhart, with a stab wound to his back and evidence that a stun gun had been pressed into his chest multiple times.

Barnhart was first treated by EMS at the scene and then transported to a local hospital for further evaluation, the documents said. The stab wound was the result of a box cutter that went through two layers of clothing and left a 1- to 2-inch puncture wound on the left side of Barnhart's back.

Both the stun gun and the box cutter were recovered at the scene.

Police located Brown and during an interview he admitted to "poking" his stepfather in the back with the box cutter and to using the stun gun during their altercation, the documents said.
