A York City man who walked into a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound Friday refused to cooperate with investigators, York City Police said.

Raequan Matthews, no age available, arrived a Memorial Hospital Friday afternoon with a gunshot to the leg. York City detectives were called to the hospital to investigate but received little cooperation from the victim, Lt. Troy Bankert said.

"He doesn't want us to investigate it," Bankert said. He called Matthews' wound non-life-threatening and said he had been treated and released from the hospital.

"We're not even sure he was shot in the city," Bankert said, "although he does live in the city."

At this point, detectives cannot be sure where or when Matthews might have been shot or if his wounds were possibly self-inflicted, he said.

Matthews gave detectives two different locations where he said the shooting happened, but neither were confirmed.

"We didn't have any (reports of) shots fired in those areas," Bankert said.
