W. Manchester Twp. man charged with rape of a child
Police say a West Manchester Township man had sex with a young girl multiple times over a seven-year period.
Andra B. Johnson, 54, is charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old, corruption of minors and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old, according to charging documents.
West Manchester Township Police allege Johnson had sex with a young girl for several years until the girl became pregnant. A DNA test concluded that Johnson's DNA could not be excluded as the biological father of the baby, according to police.
Charges were filed Friday and Johnson was arraigned Saturday, documents state.
Allegations: In December, the girl told police Johnson started having sex with her when she was about 8 years old, with the occurrences happening almost daily, according to documents.
In January she told police she had lied about the accusations, saying she was never assaulted, but then she told police in February that the original allegations were true, documents state. She told authorities she lied about the accusations because she was pressured to do so, police said.
She said she was never physically forced but was psychologically forced to have sex with him, according to police. She asked Johnson to stop when she was younger, but he continued, documents allege.
The girl told police Johnson stopped having sex with her when he found out she was pregnant, documents state. The baby was born in 2014.
Johnson denied the allegations in an interview with police on March 30.
He provided a DNA swab that was sent for analysis. On April 29, the lab report indicated that Johnson could not be excluded as the biological parent of the girl's child to over a 99 percent degree of certainty, documents state.
The girl told police she was having sex with her boyfriend as well as Johnson during the time of conception, but a DNA test showed that the boyfriend was not the father, according to documents.
Johnson was arraigned Saturday morning and was sent to York County Prison, where he remains in lieu of $250,000 bail.
