'Philly Jesus' arrested at Apple store for trespassing
PHILADELPHIA — A man known as “Philly Jesus” was arrested at a Philadelphia Apple store on trespassing charges.
Police say the store’s manager told them Philly Jesus, whose real name is Michael Grant, refused to leave Monday night despite being asked multiple times.
They say the large cross he carries around town was blocking an aisle.
He was handcuffed and arrested.
According to online court documents, Grant was charged with defiant trespassing and disorderly conduct. No lawyer information was listed. He was released after an early Tuesday arraignment.
Grant tweeted Tuesday that he was “free at last.”
Philly Jesus is a common sight around downtown Philadelphia. He dresses like Jesus, carries a cross and preaches on sidewalks. He’s also performed baptisms in the Love Park fountain.
