Richard Zech Jr., 45, of the first block of East Main Street, was walking in the 2900 block of Windsor Road when he was struck by a vehicle about 2:30 p.m., according to the coroner's office.

It happened just north of where Windsor Road intersects with Route 74 (Delta Road), east of Red Lion.

Zech was walking southbound along the shoulder of Windsor Road when he was struck by the southbound vehicle, according to York Area Regional Police Sgt. Peter Montgomery.

The driver, a 36-year-old Red Lion woman, stayed at the scene and was cooperative with police investigation, police said.

An autopsy Wednesday morning at Allentown's Lehigh Valley Hospital determined Zech died of multiple blunt-force head trauma, according to the coroner's office, which said his death has been ruled accidental.

Authorities were forced to shut down a portion of Windsor Road until about 5 p.m., Montgomery said.

The crash investigation is ongoing, and it's not yet known whether charges will be filed, he said.
