Woman shot in robbery at Hanover Rutter's

Police are looking for a man considered armed and dangerous who allegedly shot a Rutter's cashier during an armed robbery early Saturday morning in Hanover.

Hanover Borough Police say shortly after 4 a.m., a man walked into the Rutter's on 661 Broadway, pointed a handgun at the cashier and demanded money. The cashier, a 54-year-old Hanover woman, was shot in the leg during the incident, according to police. Once the man received an undisclosed amount of money, he left on foot, running toward Broadway Street, police said.

The man is described as being 6-foot-1, with a thin build, and he was wearing black clothes, a black ski mask and white sneakers. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous.

The woman who was shot was taken to York Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, according to police.

Investigation is ongoing, anyone with information is asked to call (717) 637-5575. Rutter's is also offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the incident, according to the release.
