Police release video of attempted break-in
Southwestern Regional Police have released a video of an attempted break-in at a Spring Grove restaurant that occurred Saturday morning.
According to police, around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, two men tried to get into the Papertown Dairy Bar and Restaurant on 267 N. Main St. Police say the men used a black- and silver-colored semi-automatic pistol to shoot a glass door to the back of the restaurant three times. The men arrived on foot in the parking lot and had a hand truck with them, according to police.
The video shows a man in a black and blue sweatshirt struggling to fire a gun at a door of the restaurant. After a few attempts, he walks back into the shadows and comes back and fires three shots at the door before running away. Another man is seen briefly at the start of the video but walks into the shadows before the man in the black and blue sweatshirt attempts to shoot the door.
Southwestern Regional Police Sgt. Jamie Stalcup said the man who fired the gun had the safety on at first, and when he finally did shoot the door, it wasn't enough to break the glass.
"The effect of the three shots were three quarter-size holes in the glass," Stalcup said.
One of the attempted burglars is described as a man with a thin build, and the other is a man with a medium to heavy build, according to police.
Anyone with information is asked to call Southwestern Regional Police at (717) 225-1333.
