I-83 southbound reopened after crash

3:15 p.m. update: Interstate 83 has reopened after a crash closed the highway's southbound lanes about a half an hour earlier, according to transmissions from the scene.

Originally reported: A crash has closed both southbound lanes of Interstate 83 just north of the Yocumtown exit, according to transmissions from the scene.


The crash occurred near Exit 33 around 2:40 p.m. Monday and involved several vehicles, according to York County Control.

One of the vehicles flipped, blocking the highway, according to 911.

The road will remain closed as emergency personnel extricate the people in the cars, according to transmissions.

The state Department of Transportation website shows traffic backed up to Exit 36, which is for Fishing Creek Road.
