Southern Regional Police said the 36-year-old woman met up with Robert C. Bonsall on March 17 for a first date after the two corresponded on Zoosk.

Police allege that during the date, Bonsall raped the woman in his vehicle while it was parked on East Franklin Street in New Freedom.

Bonsall, 32, of Westminster, Maryland, turned himself in Tuesday and was arraigned by Senior District Judge Nancy Edie. Bonsall remains free on $75,000 unsecured bail, meaning he didn't have to post any money but could forfeit that amount if he misses court proceedings.

He is charged with rape, sexual assault and two counts of indecent assault. His preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m. April 12, according to court records.

Bonsall maintains his innocence, according to defense attorney Korey Leslie.

"We're looking forward to having the entire story come to light," Leslie said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at (717) 235-3944.
