Bridge over I-83 to close for weekends in April
Yorkers looking to travel on the Route 238 bridge over Interstate 83 in Manchester Township during weekends in April should look for alternate routes.
PennDOT announced Friday that the bridge will be closed over a few weekends in April for repairs.
The first weekend of repairs is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Friday and will continue until no later than 6 a.m. the following Monday, according to a release. Following that weekend, closures are scheduled for April 9 and 10 as well as April 16 and 17, starting around 3 a.m. on those Saturdays and concluding during late evening those Sundays. The following weekend, April 23 and 24, may be used as a make-up weekend if bad weather or other circumstances, such as equipment breakdowns, prevent any of the work during the scheduled weekends.
The ramps at the interchange will be open for those entering and exiting 1-83, according to the release. Those traveling east on Route 238 will be detoured southbound on I-83 to Exit 22 — Route 181 — and then back northbound on I-83 to eastbound Route 238, according to the release. Those traveling west on Route 238 will be detoured northbound on I-83 to Exit 28 — Route 295 — and then back south onto I-83 to westbound Route 238 at Exit 24.
The repairs are scheduled to wrap up at the end of April.
