A Philadelphia rapper who survived two attempts on his life in the City of Brotherly Love eventually relocated to Dallastown and now finds himself in a very different sort of trouble.

Duane Clinkscales Sr., who uses the rap name Wiz Dinero, is in York County Prison, charged with having more than two dozen images of child pornography.

"We all have our demons," Clinkscales allegedly told a former roommate who confronted him about the images, according to charging documents filed in July 2013 by Detective Mark Baker. The detective is with Northern York County Regional Police and also serves on the York County Cyber Crime Task Force and the federal Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Clinkscales, 42, of no fixed address, was arraigned Monday by District Judge Scott Laird, who set bail at $50,000. He's charged with 28 counts of possession of child porn, four counts of disseminating child porn and one count of possessing an instrument of crime — in this case, his computer.

Baker obtained an arrest warrant for the rapper in 2013, but the warrant couldn't be served until now because Clinkscales had been incarcerated in another jurisdiction, according to Laird's office.

Baker was conducting an undercover investigation into child porn using a BitTorrent file-sharing application when he came across a computer that was downloading videos in which underage girls performs sex acts on men, documents state.

In 2013 he tracked down the computer's IP address to a home on Tanglewood Lane in Dallastown, where Clinkscales was temporarily staying, according to documents.

Armed with a search warrant, Baker went to the home and seized a number of items, including three laptop computers, police said. Baker found 28 images of child porn saved in one of the computers, which was registered in the name of "Wiz," documents state.

Street war: Sixteen years ago, Clinkscales survived a Philadelphia street war sparked by an 18-year-old man named Hakeem Bey after Bey's brother had been "disrespected," according to The Philadelphia Inquirer, which covered Bey's trial. The newspaper reported that:

Clinkscales was in a car full of people in September 2000, one of three vehicles transporting a group of friends celebrating Clinkscales' recording contract and first album.

Bey fired into the car at an intersection in South Philadelphia, killing a passenger and wounding the driver, prosecutors maintained, and he then tried to eliminate witnesses who might testify against him. The first was Clinkscales.

The rapper was so frightened he began wearing a bulletproof vest, which he testified saved his life in December 2000 when Bey ambushed and wounded him in South Philadelphia.

Witness executed: Chante Wright, 23, who was in the car with Clinkscales during the September 2000 shooting, entered the federal witness protection program after she agreed to cooperate with prosecutors and testify against Bey.

She and a friend were shot and killed in January 2008, just seven hours after Wright slipped back into Philadelphia to visit her seriously ill grandmother, according to the Inquirer. Prosecutors maintain the man who killed them did so on Bey's orders, but Bey was not charged.

At his 2008 trial, Bey was convicted of murder and related charges for the September 2000 shooting that killed one man and wounded another. Now 34, he is serving a life sentence.
