Convicted rapist curses Pennsylvania judge for life sentence
HARRISBURG — A central Pennsylvania man has cursed at a judge who sentenced him to life in prison for raping a 16-year-old girl.
Fifth-three-year-old David Brooks shouted the expletive after Dauphin County Judge Richard Lewis imposed the sentence Tuesday.
Brooks received the stiff sentence because the rape conviction was his “third strike” for a violent crime. He has previous convictions for robbery and aggravated indecent assault.
Brooks has denied wrongdoing and represented himself when he was convicted in January.
At sentencing, Brooks told the judge, “I will not apologize for a crime I did not commit.”
Prosecutors say the girl ran naked into the street to escape from Brooks in June 2014. The judge called Brooks’ actions “savage.”
