A York City garage fire damaged two garages and two cars, causing $10,000 in damage Sunday morning.

The fire, which was called in around 8:30 a.m., occurred at a garage on an alley between Salem and Princess Streets. York City Fire Chief David Michaels said no one was hurt or displaced in the fire, and it was under control in about 10 minutes.

Michaels said the fire started at the front one of the garages, but it wasn't clear if it started on the outside or inside of the structure.

The garage where the fire started was considered a total loss, but the garage next to it, where it spread to, is salvageable, according to Michaels. Similarly, one of the cars damaged in the fire is also considered a total loss, whereas the other car is considered salvageable, only sustaining minor damage. The vehicles were outside the structures. He said the damage totaled to around $10,000.

On Sunday afternoon he said the cause was to be determined.

"We're going to follow up with some interviews," he said.
