Police arrest 2 in alleged theft

Southern Regional Police arrested two men Saturday morning for allegedly stealing a wallet and two cellphones, and one of the men had active warrants out for both York County and Baltimore County, according to a release.

Police say around 10 a.m. Saturday, officers were sent to the York County Rail Trail behind the Rail Trail Tavern on Valley Street in Glen Rock for a report of a theft. Two men were seen taking items from backpacks and left on foot walking south on the trail, according to the release. Police say they learned a wallet and two phones were taken from the bags and found the wallet in a creek near where the wallet and phones were stolen.

Officer's viewed surveillance video from a nearby business and talked to witnesses to identify the suspects, according to police.

Creag Johnson

Police say at 11:30 a.m. an officer found the two men walking and took them into custody, with brief resistance from one. They arrested Creag Allen Johnson, 29, for theft, receiving stolen property, possession of small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Police say Johnson had returned to York County from Colorado and Florida. Johnson had active probation violation warrants in York County for DUI and Baltimore County for second degree assault, police said. The two phones were found by police, hidden under rocks.

The second man, 18, has charges pending.
