Police: York City carjacking victim shot during struggle
A York City man suffered a gunshot wound Sunday morning — shot while struggling with two carjackers in the southeast portion of the city, police said.
Samuel Patrick, 23, who lives in the city's east end, was treated at York Hospital and released Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
York City Police Lt. Troy Bankert said it happened at 11:45 a.m. in the 500 block of Susquehanna Avenue.
Susquehanna is really an alley, the 500 block of which runs between East Maple Street and East Boundary Avenue.
Patrick was stopped on Susquehanna Avenue in a 2003 gold Buick Century when two young men ordered him out of the car, the lieutenant said.
Shot in shoulder area: He ended up struggling with the carjackers, and was shot either in the back or the shoulder, according to Bankert
The two carjackers took off in the Buick, which officers later found abandoned a few blocks away, on Cleveland Avenue, the lieutenant said.
An ambulance transported Patrick to York Hospital for treatment, Bankert said.
The victim described his attackers as being about 18 years old, but he was unable to provide a more detailed description, the lieutenant said.
Anyone with information about the carjacking is asked to call York City Police at (717) 846-1234, or call York County Crime Stoppers at (717) 755-TIPS. All calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential.
