York Water Co. celebrates 200th anniversary
- York Water Company was originally established on Feb. 23, 1816.
The York Water Co. commemorated its 200th anniversary Tuesday afternoon by unveiling a state historical marker in front of its York City office.

Speakers at the 130 E. Market St. event included York City Mayor Kim Bracey, Rep. Kevin Schreiber and York County President Commissioner Susan Byrnes.
The nation's oldest publicly traded company, York Water Co. was officially established on Feb. 23, 1816, according to a company news release.
President Jeff Hines, whose been with the company for 26 years, said the event will be one of many bicentennial celebrations.
Upcoming events include a York Symphony Orchestra concert, All Rivers Run to the Sea, a night at Revs and a waterworks exhibition with Creative York, according to Hines.
On Thursday, Hines got to "ring the bell," which he said actually entails pushing a button, to close the Nasdaq Stock Market.
