Police: York prison inmate with Hep C threw feces, urine on nurse and guard
A York County Prison inmate with Hepatitis C threw a mixture of his urine and feces at a prison nurse and prison guard, contaminating both of them, according to state police.
Enough prison inmates across the country have hurled the foul brew at guards that the act has been given a name — "gassing."
Jorge Davila was arraigned Thursday on two counts each of the felony charges of assault by prisoner, aggravated assault and aggravated harassment by prisoner, as well two counts of misdemeanor reckless endangerment, court records state.
District Judge Barry Bloss Jr. set bail at $100,000, but Davila can't be bailed out.
He is serving an 11½- to 23-month prison sentence for aggravated assault, according to court records.
Isolation cell: A prison nurse and a corrections officer were doing medical rounds in the prison's Echo Block about 4:45 p.m. Jan. 19 when they approached Davila's isolation cell and the guard opened the cell's wicket so Davila could be given his medication, according to charging documents filed by state Trooper Jonathan Colarusso.
Davila was told to place his hands outside the wicket so he could be given his meds, but when the nurse approached, he threw a container filled with his feces and urine at her, documents allege.
The concoction doused the nurse's hair, face and clothing, and got into her eyes, according to police.
It also got on the clothing and hand of the corrections officer, documents state.
Davila then yelled, "You f—ing bitch!" according to documents.
Caught on video: The assault was caught on security video, documents state.
Davila is infected with the Hepatis C virus, and knew that at the time he hurled his bodily fluids, according to charging documents.
During an interview with Colarusso and another trooper, Davila admitted gassing the nurse and guard, saying he was angry because he felt his "personal information" was being disclosed to other prison staff members, documents state.
A phone message to a prison official was not returned Friday afternoon.
