The American Red Cross of Central Pennsylvania has a new volunteer regional nurse leader.

Klaudia Cwiekala-Lewis was named the Red Cross of Central Pennsylvania's volunteer Regional Nurse Leader.

Klaudia Cwiekala-Lewis was appointed in February to lead the 22-county region from New York to Maryland. The registered nurse will help provide clinical guidance and help sustain partnerships with health professionals.

“In my new role, I am planning to visit area colleges and universities to discuss the various volunteer opportunities at the Red Cross,” Cwiekala-Lewis said in a news release. “My hope is to increase the number of nursing volunteers across the Central Pennsylvania region by 25 percent.”

The Manchester resident earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Cedar Crest College. She earned her master's in nursing leadership and health systems management from Drexel University.

Cwiekala-Lewis has been volunteering with the Red Cross since 2003. She has served as a disaster action team member, a Pillowcase Project presenter, a CPR instructor and a client services disaster health associate.

“Cwiekala-Lewis will work to develop and sustain health partnerships across all lines of Red Cross service and will ensure that all areas of the region have enough volunteer nurses and other health professionals to support the entire network,” the press release reads.
