Police say a Springettsbury Township man repeatedly punched a hospital employee as the employee was attempting to help him.

Jakub Angus Grimek, 19, of 144 N Findlay St., is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment, documents state.

On Feb. 7, at around 4 a.m., York City Police went to York Hospital for a reported assault, documents state.  The victim, Alan Shaw, an Emergency Clinic Assistant, and a  certified nursing assistant, Territica Johnson, told police that while they were attending to Grimek in the emergency department, he was become increasingly agitated, according to the documents.

Police say Johnson attempted to calm Grimek down and Shaw came over to help. Shaw told police Grimek stood up on the bed and Shaw restrained him by holding his legs and moving him against the wall, documents state. Johnson took hold of Grimek's left arm as Grimek began punching Shaw repeatedly on the head and face with his right hand, police said. Several staff members and security for the hospital responded and Grimek needed to be physically restrained, documents state.

Police say there was bruising on the left side of Shaw's face.
