Police say a York City man stabbed his stepson as he tried to get into the back window of the home to talk to his mother.

Jafet Alexis Jimenez-Garcia, 48, of the 941 W. College Avenue, is charged with aggravated assault, attempted simple assault and harassment, police said.

Police say Jimenez-Garcia told police that on Monday, Feb 1, around 10:30 p.m., his stepson, Louis Amadiz, was trying to get into the home through a back window when Jimenez-Garcia stabbed him. The stepfather said it was self-defense.

Jimenez-Garcia was told by police that his stepson was a legal resident of the home, documents state. Amadiz told police he went to the house to speak to his mother and opened the window when Jimenez-Garcia would not allow him to talk to her, police said. Amadiz said that was when Jimenez-Garcia stabbed him in the lower left abdomen, documents state.

Police say Amadiz had a laceration to his abdomen and was taken to York Hospital to be treated.

Jimenez-Garcia remains free after posting $20,000 bail.
