Hanover police identify man killed in Saturday crash

Hanover Police this morning identified the driver killed in a Saturday afternoon crash as 72-year-old borough resident John Mummert.


Mummert died after he drove off the road around 3:23 p.m. at the intersection of East Middle and York streets and hit a building owned by Gobrecht Real Estate, according to a police news release.

Emergency medical personnel found him unconscious at the scene of the one-car crash and tried to resuscitate him, the release states. They took him to Hanover Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Penn Township Fire and EMS assisted police at the scene, according to the release.
