A Pleasant Acres Nursing Home employee threatened to bring in a gun and shoot a co-worker, according to charging documents.

Carol Ann Ryan, 44, of 1725 Baron Road, is charged with terroristic threats and harassment, documents state.

Around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Springettsbury Township Police were dispatched to the Pleasant Acres Nursing Home at 118 Pleasant Acres Road for reports of threats, police said.

Police say the weekend supervisor at the nursing home told police there had been a meeting where Ryan was subject to an investigation for care concerns overnight, and the allegations were unfounded, causing Ryan to become visibly upset. The supervisor said after Ryan had left the meeting, Ryan went to a staff lounge and told the employees in there that she would bring a gun in and shoot the person if they did not stop reporting her for things she did not do, documents state.

Ryan told the employees that it was not anyone in that room, singling out another employee, a nurse, documents state.

One of the employees in the lounge told police she was scared because she could tell Ryan was very upset, police said. That employee told police that once she heard the threat she reported it to the nurse Ryan singled out, documents state.

That nurse out told police she was very concerned about the threat because she knew Ryan had just returned from a 10-day suspension for violating a care plan for a resident, which resulted in the resident falling, police said. Police say she said she was concerned not just for her own safety but for the safety of the residents of the facility as well.

After speaking with the District Attorney's Office, it was determined that because of safety and security concerns, a warrant should be obtained for Ryan for the incident, police said.

Police spoke to a supervisor for the facility and she told police Ryan would be terminated from her position.

Ryan remains free on $75,000 unsecured bail.
