York food lovers and restaurant aficionados can now rejoice as this year's Restaurant Week participants were announced Monday at the new doughnut and takeout beer shop Glazin' in York City.

Restaurant Week is a weeklong event from Feb. 20-27, where the participating restaurants offer discounted specials to customers, increasing awareness of the local dining opportunities in the city.  This year's event will have 31 eateries participating, three more than last year's Restaurant Week.

"This is the largest its ever been," said Philip Given, co-owner of York City Pretzel Co.

Of the 31 participating, nine of them are new to the week, according to Given. He said this year there has been an increased focus for the restaurants to offer breakfast and brunch, with many restaurants offering specials.

There will be breakfast and brunch options for $5 to $10, lunch specials for $5, $10 and $15, and dinner specials for $20, $30, and $40.

Given said the week also helps the businesses boost sales. He said last year's Restaurant Week was one of the best for York City Pretzel Co.

"It's definitely huge for businesses," he said.

He said the event is a good way to get people from all over to come to the city and dine at the local restaurants instead of going to chain restaurants.

This year will be a little different from the previous years, as there will be ticketed events at some of the restaurants during the week.

Rob Burrito, co-owner of Glazin', one of the participating eateries, was all smiles while displaying the specialty doughnuts he will be offering during the week. Burrito said Restaurant Week is a good way for people who don't normally come downtown to see what restaurants are offering.

He also said it's a way to shed some positive light on the city.

"There's some good news too," he said. "It's not all bad!"

Due to the high demand at many of the eateries during the weeklong event, making reservations is encouraged.

This year's Restaurant Week participants are: Bair's Chicken; Baron Von Schwein; BrewVino; The Busy Bee; Central Family Restaurant; Coffee, Teas, and Thee, LLC; Coomb's Tavern; The Copper Crust Co.; DiCarlo's Pizza - York; Esaan Thai Restaurant of York; Forno Bova; Front Porch Cafe; Glazin'; The Green Bean Roasting Co.; Healthy World Cafe; Holy Hound Taproom; I-ron-ic; Joyful Garden Chinese Restaurant; J.R.'s Fries at Central Market; The Left Bank Restaurant & Bar; Mezzogiorno; Mi Caldero Restaurant; Mudhook Brewing Co.; Offcenter Grill at the Yorktowne Hotel; Otto's Kitchen and Cocktails; Roosevelet Tavern; Sharmini's Kitchen; Tutoni's; White Rose Bar and Grill; York Blue Moon; and York City Pretzel Co.
