The York County Coroner's Office has ruled the Thursday shooting death of Dontay Lamar Lowrie a homicide.

The 21-year-old Lowrie, of the 800 block of Tioga Avenue in York City, was pronounced dead at York Hospital at 2:23 p.m. Thursday after being shot about 20 minutes earlier near Farquhar Park, according to authorities.

After an autopsy at Lehigh Valley Hospital, the coroner's office ruled Lowrie had died from the multiple gunshot wounds he suffered.

York City police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of Park Street just after 2 p.m.; very shortly after that, Lowrie showed up at York Hospital in a private vehicle, according to police. He died in the York Hospital trauma bay shortly after he arrived, according to the coroner's office.

Officers found several bullet casings at the intersection of Park Street and Park Place. A neighbor told The York Dispatch she saw two men running from the scene after shots rang out.

York City Police continue to investigate; anyone with information is encouraged to call police at 846-1234 or 755-TIPS.
