State Rep. Seth Grove announced Monday that he will seek a fifth term representing the 196th House District.

The 36-year-old Republican from Dover Township was first elected to the state House in 2008 and, since then, has ushered 19 bills he authored to the governor's desk where they were signed into law.

So far this session, Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf has signed two of Grove's bills into law. One allows children as young as 9 to receive flu shots at a pharmacy; the second permits seniors at risk of losing their PACE and PACENET benefits because to Social Security cost of living increases to keep receiving free or reduced-cost prescriptions through 2017.

It takes about six years, on average, for a bill to go through the system before it becomes law, Grove noted.

"I'm in my seventh year and I've got a lot of bills done," Grove said. "The system is not set up to be a fast system."

Ahead: Though Grove noted his accomplishments in office, he added his work is not yet finished.

For years, he has worked toward municipal pension reform and to reduce school property taxes.

"School property taxes always has been and always will be a top priority," Grove said. "It would be nice to not say that word anymore."

In the past few months, Grove has become a vocal critic of a state spending package agreed to by Wolf, the Senate and House Democrats. Grove argued taxpayers couldn't afford the expected associated tax hike and highlighted ways to balance a budget without tax increases.

“I intend to run for re-election based on my conservative record of success and working to ensure the views of the residents of the 196th district are represented," he said in a news release.

Grove serves on the House Appropriations, Labor and Industry, Education and Finance committees. He also chairs the House Education Committee's subcommittee on Technical Education and Career Readiness.

Rank and files in the House are paid $85,339 yearly.

No one has publicly announced they will challenge Grove for 196th House District seat.
