Police are no longer searching for the 20-year-old Lancaster City man witnesses saw drive onto the Route 30 bridge Thursday evening, park his car and jump into the Susquehanna River.

Friday, Jan. 15, 2016-Police say several people witnessed a Lancaster man stop his car in the travel lanes of the Route 30 bridge, background, and jump into the Susquehanna River at 7:10 p.m. Thursday.

After police got the call at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday, police and rescue crews searched the river for "an extended period of time," West Hempfield Township Police say. They began again Friday morning but after searching for a few hours ceased their efforts at finding the body of the man whose actions they are investigating as a suicide.

It's "just a matter of time" until someone finds the man's body, police said Sunday morning, adding his name will be released to the public at that time.
