York City Police say they identified a suspect just hours after 18-year-old Shyhiem McDowell was found unresponsive in the backyard of 325 Girard Ave. Saturday morning with a gunshot wound to the head.

Hydiea Banks, a 16-year-old girl, is wanted for criminal attempt to commit criminal homicide, according to a news release.

Police are also looking for another person — an unidentified young man who walks with a limp and was last seen with the suspect. The second young man is wanted for questioning.

Officers were called to the scene of the shooting at 9:52 a.m. Saturday morning, the release states.

McDowell was taken by ambulance to the hospital, according to York City Police officers on the scene. He was in critical condition Sunday, according to York City Police. At around 9:45 Sunday night a York Hospital nursing supervisor said they did not have any information available on McDowell.

As of Sunday afternoon, police had not settled "100 percent" on a motive for the shooting, said Lt. Troy Bankert, who supervises the York City Police detectives.
