Police: Teen seriously hurt in York City shooting
A teenager suffered serious gunshot wounds in a Saturday morning shooting in York City, according to police.
Officers were called to the 300 block of Girard Avenue for reports of a shooting. When they got there, they found a male teenager lying unconscious in the backyard of 325 Girard Ave., police say.
He was alive when he was taken from the scene by ambulance to the hospital just after 10 a.m., according to York City Police officers on the scene.
Police had no other information available at the scene.
Next-door neighbor Deirdre Jones said she was making food for her kids when she heard a shot ring out, an then looked out the window to see the teen on the ground.
"He was just laying there," she said. "He looked young."
She said she didn't know the victim, and didn't see anyone else around.
York City Police continue to investigate; anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 846-1234.
