Police say a man and a woman abducted his child from the child's mother at gunpoint early Saturday morning.

Justin Douglas Simpson and Charmaine Jerusha Campbell, both 26 and of no listed address, are charged with kidnapping to inflict injury, interference with custody of children, endangering the welfare of children and reckless endangerment, according to a criminal complaint filed Saturday by York City Police. Simpson is also charged with simple assault and making terroristic threats.

Police say Simpson showed up the North Newberry Street address where the mother of Simpson's child lives with his 1-year-old son earlier that night. Simpson had wanted to take the boy with him, but the child's mother said he couldn't, documents state.

So Simpson pulled out a black semi-automatic pistol and pointed it at the mother of his child, police say. Police say he pointed it at her head, saying he'd shoot her if she didn't move out of his way.

She did, and he left with the boy, getting into a car Campbell was driving, according to documents. She'd been parked down the road, police say, and had pulled up when he came out of the residence.

The pair then drove down to Baltimore with the child, where they were eventually arrested, documents state.

They were arrested Saturday and held in Baltimore City Jail until Tuesday. Simpson was taken to York County Prison, where he remains in lieu of $40,000 bail, according to prison records. The prison has no record of Campbell.
