Pa. drivers urged to use caution as sleet hits at rush hour
PHILADELPHIA — Winter is finally coming to Pennsylvania, and it could make driving tricky for the evening rush.
Sleet and freezing rain are forecast Monday evening from the Poconos in the northeast to the westernmost edge of the state.
Drivers and walkers are urged to use extra caution for slick spots on roadways and sidewalks.
The National Weather Service says a winter weather advisory is in effect for central Pennsylvania from 4 p.m. Monday until 4 a.m. Tuesday.
The advisory in parts of northeastern is in effect from 6 p.m. Monday until 11 a.m. Tuesday.
A freezing rain advisory has also been issued for parts of northwestern Pennsylvania from noon until midnight.
