A Windsor Township man died following a traffic crash Thursday morning, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

Terry Allen Smith, 32, of the first block of Windsor Acres, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 7 a.m. crash on East Prospect Road at Freysville Road in Windsor Township, the coroner's office said.

Smith was a passenger in a van that was heading north on Freysville Road when it crashed into the dump truck which was going westbound, according to police.

York Area Regional Police Sgt. Peter Montgomery said Bryan Nebuhr, of Stewartstown, who was driving the van, appears to have committed some sort of stop sign violation, either failing to stop, or continuing through when it wasn't safe to do so. The van hit the dump truck, driven by Glenville-area resident Jack Lowe, and flipped over on its passenger side, Montgomery said.

Smith was not wearing a seat belt, and was partially ejected from the vehicle, according to the York County Coroner's Office. Another passenger in the van was unhurt, according to the coroner's office.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries were taken to the hospital, according to York Area Regional Police, who continue to investigate the crash.

The coroner's office said the conditions in the area at the time of the crash were "poor" — it was dark and foggy. Montgomery also cited the fog as a factor that could have contributed to the crash.

An autopsy has been scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday for Smith, whose family has been notified of his death.
