A national franchise selling beef jerky will open in York Saturday.

Beef Jerky Outlet offers customers jerky in 200 types and sizes, according to a news release. The store's jerky is made from meats including ostrich, kangaroo, buffalo, alligator, venison and elk and the chain offers flavors like Moonshine and Cajun.

York resident Justin Wolfe, who is opening the store with a childhood friend, said his favorite flavor offered by the chain is boiled crawfish.

Amy La, who works at a nearby nail salon, shops at Beef Jerky Outlet at the new store in Manchester Crossroads Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015. The store offers jerky in 200 types and sizes. Jerky is made from thinly sliced meat that is dehydrated or smoked, he said.

Wolfe and his business partner, Jeremy Schlosser, have played in several bands together, he said, so opening the franchise together seemed like the natural thing to do.

In addition to jerky, the store will sell flavored popcorn, a selection of hot sauces and rubs, dried fruits and veggies and dog treats, Wolfe said.

The franchise includes 50 stores and hopes to open more than 100 stores in the next 18 months, according to the release.

Grand opening: The store's grand opening will be going on from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12 in Suite H4 at 351 Loucks Rd.

105.7 "The X" will broadcast from the store between 10 a.m. and noon, and gift baskets will be raffled off throughout the day.

Ten percent of Saturday sales will go to the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Project and the franchise owners will collect bags of jerky for soldiers who are stationed overseas.
