Santa Claus will visit the York County SPCA this weekend so you can have your pet’s photo — and yours, if you’d like — taken with jolly old St. Nick. It’s the ninth year the nonprofit organization has done pet photos with Santa.

Santa will visit the York County SPCA on Saturday, Dec.5, and again on Saturday, Dec. 12, to have his photo taken with pets.

The event will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Emigsville-area shelter, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, according to Melissa Smith, executive director of the York County SPCA.

Cost is $5 for a 4-by-6-inch print, and electronic versions of photos can be emailed upon request.

Smith said all pets are welcome, but the SPCA asks that cats and small animals be brought in carriers.

Also, she said, because the shelter often gets pretty crowded with animals and their humans waiting to meet Santa, it’s best to only bring pets that are comfortable being around lots of other animals and people. Smith said pets that are fearful or uncomfortable in unfamiliar situations likely will not do well at this event.

Money raised from photo sales will benefit the hundreds of animals in the care of the York County SPCA, Smith said.
