In brief: York Business Academy starts Feb. 6

York City and York College are teaming up to offer a program to help people start or grow their businesses.

The program, called York Business Academy, is now accepting current and prospective business owners for its spring session, which starts Feb. 6.

The program will be taught by York College professors and their MBA students, student members of the college's ENACTUS organization, and local business professionals.

Each session will focus on an aspect of opening, owning and operating a successful business.

The topics will include finance, accounting, marketing, business writing business law and strategic planning.

No formal education or training is required of those who wish to participate.

The classes will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Feb. 6 through April 16 at the J.D. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship, 410 Kings Mill Road, York. The cost, which covers all materials, is $35.

Registration is limited and those interested should sign up as soon as possible.
