Pedophile stalker guilty of growing marijuana at home
ALLENTOWN — A convicted pedophile who pleaded guilty to stalking a 13-year-old boy has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to nine to 18 months in jail for growing marijuana in his eastern Pennsylvania apartment.
Seventy-four-year-old Clyde Ruppel appeared in Lehigh County court on the marijuana charges Monday.
He pleaded guilty in October to stalking the boy — whom he left love letters with peach-colored roses attached — and was sentenced to one to two years in prison. But because he’d been jailed since his arrest last year, Ruppel was eligible for parole on that case later this month.
Instead, the judge immediately paroled Ruppel so he will serve his marijuana sentence in the county jail and then be closely supervised by a county probation officer.
That was done to safeguard the community because Ruppel has child-sex convictions dating to 1965.
