Police: York City man drove drunk with kids

A York City man allegedly drove while drunk with children in the vehicle early Sunday morning, according to police.

Neftali Santana-Figueroa, 30, of 358 Stone Ave., is charged with one count each of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with suspended vehicle registration, and two counts of endangering the welfare of children as well as summary traffic violation charges, according to charging documents.

After noticing a Jeep almost sideswipe a guard rail, drive over the shoulder several times and drive over the center line, police pulled over Santana-Figueroa, according to documents. The vehicle registration was suspended due to insurance cancellation, according to police.

Police said Santana-Figueroa had slurred speech and very glassy, bloodshot-looking eyes. The smell of alcohol was emitting from the vehicle, documents stated.

There were two young children in car seats in the back of the car, as well as his girlfriend, the owner of the vehicle, in the passenger seat, according to police.

Santana-Figueroa admitted to police he had been drinking and police could smell alcohol coming from him, according to documents.

Police said he had trouble with his balance, he took a portable breath test that showed a positive reading.

A friend was called to pick up Santana-Figueroa's girlfriend and the two children, according to police.

Santana-Figueroa was released on $5,000 unsecured bail, according to documents.
