Someone broke the necks of four rabbits in a Delta backyard, according to state police.

.Police incident

Police say someone entered the backyard of a home in the 700 block of Main Street sometime between midnight and 6 a.m. Nov. 16, took the four rabbits there out of their hutches, and broke their necks.

The person or people who did so left the bodies of the rabbits there and fled, according to police.

Trooper Richard Sentak, the officer investigating the case, said the motive is unclear, and the rabbits' owner doesn't have any idea why someone would have done this.

Sentak said cases such as this that involve animal cruelty are unusual.
