The 2015 Toys for Tots drive is underway and its last roundup will be on Dec. 19, according to local coordinating officer Dave Brady.

Drop boxes will be located at over 250 retailers, offices and other locations throughout York County. New, unwrapped toys will be collected and distributed by churches, community groups and civic organizations for distribution to families in York County.

Last year, the York Local Community Organization gave nearly 25,000 toys to those in need.

Brady said the toys will be distributed to around 60 other agencies, such as The Salvation Army, which will then distribute the toys accordingly. He said some do registrations or parties to distribute the toys.

Brady said there are "tons" of volunteers going around helping with the effort.

He said the objective is to provide toys to children who might not get toys and boost their confidence.

Brady said he found in several cases those who work with Toys for Tots were recipients of the toys when they were younger.

He said they will be accepting new, unwrapped toys, adding they will take anything, such as stuffed animals, so long as it is new and unwrapped.

They are also accepting cash donations, which Brady said will be used to purchase more toys for kids.

There are several upcoming events with opportunities to donate toys:
